What is Reiki?

If you have not heard of or experienced Reiki I would strongly suggest it. It feels like nothing I can explain. You are put into a state of such relaxation while your energy is cleared and charged. When you leave you are like a different person. Many Reiki practitioners use healing gemstones to help magnify the healing energies.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a technique to promote relaxation and reduce stress. It originated in Japan, but now has become popular in Western countries and throughout the world. Learning all about Reiki will give you insight into this form of healing, which involves life force energy and is connected to a Higher Power and the energy that flows through all people.

I believe it is wonderful that Reiki, a form of natural healing, is now being used in hospital settings around the United States. When I first learned about Reiki almost 20 years ago it was virtually unheard of. Many hospitals are now encouraging patients to receive Reiki before and after surgeries.

An important thing to note is that you can use Reiki on yourself for self healing. This consists of laying your hands on specific areas of your body and allowing the energy to flow. One important aspect of Reiki is grounding. It is also a favorite of mine - You feel your feet on the ground and allow your energy to flow from your feet deep into the earth.

Reiki is both powerful and gentle. In its long history of use it has aided in healing virtually every known illness and injury including serious problems like: multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and cancer as well as skin problems, cuts, bruises, broken bones, headache, colds, flu, sore throat, sunburn, fatigue, insomnia, impotence, poor memory, lack of confidence, etc. It is always beneficial and works to improve the effectiveness of all other types of therapy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance and has many benefits for both client and practitioner, including altered states of consciousness and spiritual experiences. If a client has a health condition, and wants to be treated with Reiki, it is recommended that they do so under the supervision of an enlightened medical doctor or other health care professional. Reiki will improve the results of all medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate pain, reduce stress, and help create optimism.
